Position Title: Project Engineer

Location: Idaho Falls, ID or reasonable commuting distance from Idaho Falls.

Citizenship Requirement: U.S. Citizenship required

Security Clearance: Must qualify to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy (DOE) security clearance

 

Position Summary:

Quadrant Nuclear Industries (QNI) is seeking a skilled and motivated Project Engineer to support the planning, design, construction, and startup of an industrial plant. This role will operate at the nexus of advanced nuclear technology, remote materials handling, and regulatory compliance, and will be responsible for executing and supporting cross-functional engineering efforts. The position requires technical excellence, coordination with national laboratory partners, engineering contractors, and internal QNI teams to deliver a first-of-kind commercial facility capable of reprocessing nuclear waste.

 

Primary Responsibilities:

1. Engineering Design, Development, and Collaboration

Collaborate to deliver technical plans and engineering design for a reprocessing plant facility. This can include conceptual engineering and process development, technical gap assessments, engineering assignments based on technical expertise.

2. Project Coordination, Documentation, and Scheduling

Assist in managing the broader project lifecycle, ensuring efficient coordination across technical and administrative domains. Specific responsibilities include schedule management, progress tracking and document management and curation.

3. Technical Documentation, Communication, and Analysis

Contribute to internal and external deliverables that communicate technical progress and support strategic decision-making. Responsibilities include engineering evaluation, document preparation and presentation development.

 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Education: Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Materials Engineering, Nuclear Engineering, or related discipline. Master of Business Administration is desired or equivalent business management skills.
  • Experience: Minimum of 7 years in process engineering or plant operations, with a strong preference for experience in nuclear materials, radiochemical processing, or DOE facility environments.

 

Technical Skills:

  • Familiarity with engineering software tools.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and project management tools (e.g., MS Project, Smartsheet).
  • Ability to evaluate complex systems, perform mass balance calculations, and prepare technical documentation.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior work experience with DOE facilities, INL, or nuclear cycle technologies.
  • Familiarity with MC&A, safeguards, and NRC or DOE regulatory frameworks.
  • Demonstrated experience leading engineering teams or working across multidisciplinary technical groups.
  • Ability to function independently with limited supervision in a highly technical, fast-paced environment.
